Broad Meadow Brook Restoration
The Broad Meadow Brook Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area that spans 400 acres of forest and wetlands, located in Worcester, Massachusetts— a densely urbanized city with a population above 200,000. BMB is one of the last remaining natural wetlands in Worcester, providing crucial habitat to many local species and regulating storm water flow to and from surrounding residential neighborhoods.
Mass Audubon, the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration (DER), the City of Worcester, and the Blackstone Watershed Collaborative are working together to restore Broad Meadow Brook to provide better quality habitat and improve ecosystem services.
